Faris and Al-Anoud... First achievement in the “Asia Fencing”

Fares Al-Balushi achieved the first achievement for the fencing team by advancing to the round of 16 in the Asian Open Championship, which was held on the island of Bali in Indonesia, with the participation of 441 male and female players representing 28 countries from across the Asian continent. Al-Anoud Al-Saadi also succeeded in advancing to the round of 32, achieving a first for women at the senior level in Asia.
Our national team participated in this championship with 12 players: Khalifa Al-Abri, Hamed Al-Mazmi, Ahmed Al-Hammadi, and Mahra Abdullah in the sabre category, Khalifa Al-Zarouni, Omran Al-Balushi, Maid Mohammed, Al-Anoud Al-Saadi in the épée category, Fares Al-Balushi, Hamad Al-Jlaf, Khalifa Al-Kaabi, and Shama Al-Abri in the general foil category. The team is coached by Osama Adel, the technical director, along with Georgi Lamenov, the epee coach, and Virgil Marcia, the sabre coach.
The rest of our players' results were as follows: Khalifa Al-Zarouni in the round of 32, Khalifa Al-Kaabi in the round of 32, and the rest of the players in the round of 64. This tournament comes ahead of the important upcoming participation in the World Fencing Championships, scheduled to be held in Georgia from July 22 to 30 in the capital Tbilisi, with the participation of a constellation of world stars.
